Suitable For

Personnel must have completed the Defence Instructional Techniques (DIT) course or its equivalent, and provide proof on application.

All RAF and Army personnel serving in Non-ARTD (Army Recruiting & Training Division) units are to apply to DCTS. This includes DCAE, DCEME, DCCIS, DCI, RCDM/DDA.

All RN personnel are to apply via the RN Course Booking Cell at HMS Collingwood.

All personnel (including RN & RAF) serving in ARTD units are to apply for the ARTD Staff Leadership School (ASLS) course.

Army, and affiliated, personnel should view the Army Instructor Capability programme.

Course Aim

This course comprises a range of essential instructional and facilitative skills as delivered on the final eight days of the Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT) Course. These range from motivating students to effective listening skills & techniques required in identifying personal welfare issues amongst Phase 1 and Phase 2 trainees. The course also focuses on the instructor’s role within the assessment process.

Applications should be made to DCTS Course Booking Cell. Courses are loaded 8 weeks prior to their start date. Applications received after the cut-off date are automatically placed on a reserve list.
