Charles P. Summerrall (1867 to 1955)

General Charles Pelot Summerall was a senior United States Army officer. He commanded the 1st Infantry Division in World War I, was Chief of Staff of the United States Army from 1926 and 1930, and was President of The Citadel between 1931 and 1953.
