Happy New Year.
OK, so today is the day when people make symbolic gestures to make a difference in their lives; aka New Year’s Resolutions.
One of these gestures typically involves ‘improving my fitness’, and as a result there is a surge of ‘new members’ to the myriad of fitness providers during the month of January (and Q1).
Exercising is a lifestyle choice, regardless of your fitness level, and requires time, effort and commitment to reaps the (continued) benefits.
If you’re not that into exercise (or even if you are), tailor your exercise to your lifestyle rather than your lifestyle to the exercise, you’re more likely to stick to it.
Remember the long term, when you’re 90 years old and can’t get out of your bum grooved chair because your noodle arms can’t lift you up!
Finally, don’t forget the ‘power’ and benefits of walking: stairs or escalator, stairs or lift, walking to the local shop or driving, drive five minutes to the train station or walk for 10 minutes?
Anyway, I’m off to watch all the Harry Potter films back-to-back, on my lazy boy with built in fridge, eating choccy bars and crisps, with a couple of litres of cheap cider; or perhaps I’ll just stick to my press-ups and sit-ups … never liked the half-blood prince anyway.
