More female soldiers may deploy on peacekeeping missions in future.
The Ministry of Defence wants to see an increase in the number of women sent to Cyprus as part of the Army’s United Nations contingent – they currently make up just 6% of the numbers there.
The long-term aim is to increase this figure to at least 15% for all such operations by 2028 and a study to identify barriers to them joining has been confirmed by the Defence Secretary.
