Movement Advice for Desk Jockeys from the RAPTC

If your stuck at your desk most days, Sergeant Lydia Hilson from the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC) offers this advice:

“If you’re at your desk try and get up every 45 minutes to an hour.

Go to the toilet on another floor, get up and make a coffee or organise a walking meeting.

Adding some movements, such as high knee holds or upper body rotations is even better.

Mobility exercises not only help correct your posture and maintain your range of movement, they also improve your focus.

It’s been shown that you can’t concentrate fully for much longer than 45 minutes to an hour so it actually makes you more efficient if you take breaks.”
