The Necessary Art…

“A prince should therefore have no other aim or thought, nor take up any other thing for his study but war and its organisation and discipline, for that is the only art that is necessary to one who commands.”

Niccolo Machiavelli (1469 to 1527)

Machiavelli was an Italian Renaissance political philosopher and statesman, secretary of the Florentine republic, whose most famous work, The Prince (Il Principe), brought him a reputation as an atheist and an immoral cynic.
