Burpees!

From an exercise perspective, it is Burpees Day for me.

The Burpee is a great full body exercise used in strength training and as an aerobic exercise.

It was created by Dr Royal Huddleston Burpee as part of his PhD thesis when he adapted the Front Leaning Reach (FLR) – think start position of a press-up.

It was popularised in 1944 when it adopted as one of seven exercises used by the US Army in its new toughening up programme.

Recruits were not considered fit enough for the rigours of war until they could do 40-50 in an easy rhythm (without pausing). 8 in 20 seconds was poor, 10 was fair, 12 was good, and 13 or more was excellent.
