What is ISTAR?


ISTAR is a practice that links several battlefield
functions together to assist a combat force in employing its sensors and managing the information they gather.

ISTAR includes:

  • Intelligence;
  • Surveillance;
  • Target Acquisition; and
  • Reconnaissance.
