Some Statistics for the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) (2018)

As of 01 January 2018, the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) had the following personnel in the roles of dog handler and veterinary technician (Table 1).

Notes:

  1. There is no trade allocation against liability for ranks above SSgt in the dog handler/trainer and veterinary technician trades.

The RAVC does not have a formalised route for dog handlers to become veterinary technicians, meaning there is no criteria for transfer. In 2017, five or less applied to transfer to the veterinary technician role, with all applicants being successful.

The RAVC also had a liability for the following Late Entry (LE) officers in the Veterinary Support Officer role:

  • Lieutenant Colonel (OF-4): 1.
  • Major (OF-3): 3.
  • Captain (OF-2): 2
