Research: Sickness Absence can be predicted!

Sickness absence in adulthood can be predicted by factors measured in adolescence.

However, they differ between men and women according to a Swedish longitudinal cohort study.

For men, low achievement at school and having an unemployed father predicted their own sickness absence.

For women, the factors associated with sickness absence included being educated mainly with other girls, school absence and low parental socioeconomic status.
